The Town of Belmont seeks qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Director for the Council on Aging (COA). The Assistant Director will assist the Director with all aspects of internal management for the COA and oversees the daily operations of the Senior Center for the Council on Aging Department. This position coordinates COA daily activities and programs, maintains calendar of activities, and oversees space allocation of the COA during operating hours. In addition the Assistant Director coordinates with public safety departments on efforts to enhance senior safety through public education efforts.
Responsibilities include supervising staff, developing the department’s website and managing the department’s publicity. The Assistant Director will prepare the annual marketing plan, writes, composes, edits and solicits material for the senior center’s newsletter, and assists with composing grant and budget materials. In addition the Assistant Director accepts donations and establishes and collects fees to be delivered to the Town Treasurer. This position also manages seniors’ requests, fitness room program, program set up and facility rentals.
Minimum requirements include a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field of public administration or human services; three years of progressively responsible experience in a social services setting working with an aging population; experience in event planning, customer service and office management highly desired; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. In addition the candidate must possess, or have the ability to obtain, Serve Safe, First Aid, CPR and AED Training.
Starting salary is $29.7985 per hour ($61,980.88 annualized), which represents Grade 11 of the SEIU salary schedule, and is eligible for overtime. This position works forty (40) hours per week; hours are Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays 8:00am to 5:00pm, and Tuesdays 8:00am to 7:00pm and Fridays 8:00am to 2:00pm. This position is eligible for the Town’s comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental and life insurance, as well as the Town’s pension plan. This position is part of the SEIU Local 888 and is subject to the respective collective bargaining agreement.
