Uxbridge–Activity Coordinator


The Town of Uxbridge is seeking an Activity Coordinator for the Senior Center.  This is a part-time 19 hour per week, non-union position that is appointed by and serves at the pleasure of the Town Manager. The Activity Coordinator works with the Director to perform varied duties including: planning for and promoting specialized activity programming for our seniors, organizing and scheduling musical entertainers and speakers on various educational programming, scheduling exercise programs and trip outings, coordinating arts and crafts projects or circles to promote socialization and stimulation.

This position requires excellent communication skills, the ability to perform professional, friendly contact with our seniors and their primary caregivers.  Varied duties may include monthly reports and calendars and assessments to the Director. Position requires a valid MA Driver’s License, CORI check, CPR certification, and the ability to respond appropriately in an emergency.

Position requires good computer skills, good scheduling skills, and basic math skills. Must be able to compile accurate statistical data relating to the caseload. The ability to work independently is necessary.  Must have a patient and positive disposition, demonstrate flexibility and possess an ability to multitask. This position requires the exercise of good judgment in complex situations not clearly defined by precedent or established procedures. Must protect the privacy of our participants and hold personal, financial, and medical information in strict confidence. Makes daily contact with the general public, caregivers, senior citizens, local business partners, state representatives and own departments. Operates with autonomy and is relied upon to accomplish the best possible results for our clients, caregivers and their extended family.  The Activity Coordinator performs a variety of administrative tasks including but not limited to timely compilation of the monthly activity calendar. This position develops, schedules, promotes and assist with posts events on social media and is responsible for press releases to local newspapers to promote the activities and happenings of the Center.

Weekly salary: Up to $17.56 per hour based on a 19 hour work week, with a scheduled work week to include four 4 -hour days (Mon, Tues, Weds & Thursday) and one 3 hour day (Friday).  Duties may require occasional nights, weekend or holiday hours, at no additional compensation and in the case of specific events, unforeseen circumstances or emergencies.
