Watertown–Veteran’s Services Officer

The City known as the Town of Watertown seeks a qualified candidate to fill the position of Veterans’ Services Officer in accordance with M.G.L. Chapter 115.  Under the administrative direction of the Town Manager and/or his designee, the Veterans’ Services Officer is responsible for oversight for services to Watertown veterans and their dependents.  The successful candidate will be responsible for intake, assessment, and coordination of benefits with the Department of Veterans’ Services. The successful candidate will also be responsible for working with local veterans groups to coordinate veterans’ participation in events throughout the community, i.e., Veterans’ Day Parade, Memorial Day celebrations, and Patriot’s Day events.  Work with the Department of Public Works and funeral directors to ensure proper identification, maintenance, and decoration of veterans’ grave sites.  Responsible for the maintenance of all confidential files, records and financial data regarding veterans.

Responsibilities include a variety of other duties and additional special projects as assigned by the Town Manager.
