Salary:  $21.33/hour

Part Time:  27 Hours per week

Develops and implements the programs and services of the Council on Aging for town residents over sixty years old; manages the Shirley Senior Center; and provides information and referral services to the elderly and their families.  Supervises part-time employees of the Senior Center, including Outreach worker, MART van coordinators, MART van drivers, and other COA-managed programs; oversees all volunteers engaged in COA programs and services; and oversees free-lance instructors, lecturers, and performers.

Some of the Duties include but are not limited to: Enhances programs and services by seeking sources of funding other than Town funds, such as government, foundation, and corporate grants; prepares and submits grant applications; Plans and administers COA programs, services, and activities for the elderly; Assesses senior needs and maintains outreach to the elderly community; Assigns and coordinates duties of Senior Center staff, supervising performance, and conducting annual employee evaluations; recommends personnel actions as required; Prepares, in conjunction with the editor, the monthly COA newsletter; Recruits and oversees volunteers for COA activities and programs; Manages the COA nutrition program, including congregate meals at the Senior Center and home-delivered meals prepared by the Montachusett Opportunity Council; updates food service certification; Manages the MART van program and employees; Serves as staff liaison to the COA; meets with the COA on a regular basis, presenting financial, operational, and policy information for discussion and action.  For a full job description, please refer to the Town of Shirley website page.

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of social science; plus two years of experience working in adult group programs; plus supervisory experience in adult programs.  An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the Bachelor’s degree.
