The Wellesley Council on Aging (COA) moved into a new, free standing, dedicated senior center (Tolles Parsons Center) in the fall of 2017.  With 13,000 square feet of space, the number of programs, activities, and services offered by the COA has expanded significantly.  Many of these offerings are supported, facilitated, or managed by volunteers.  The COA is seeking a dynamic Volunteer Coordinator to oversee its volunteer service program and to continue expanding the COA’s volunteer services and volunteer pool to meet the needs created by the new center.

Reporting to the Director of Senior Services, the incumbent’s work involves identifying the needs of seniors that can be met by volunteers, developing programs and recruiting volunteers to assist in meeting those needs, frequent interaction with people of all ages, recordkeeping and a lot, lot more.

Minimum qualifications include:  High School diploma or equivalent; two to five years’ experience in a supervisory role; excellent interpersonal skills, specifically with the senior population; excellent oral and written communication, organizational, coordination, computer, and time management skills; and a valid driver’s license and own transportation.  Experience supervising volunteers preferred. The hourly rate of pay is $17.60 and the position is not benefit-eligible.  The desired regular work schedule is three weekdays on site, totaling 19 hours –  some flexibility will be required to meet department needs.  To apply, submit a cover letter and resume to the Human Resources Department, 525 Washington Street, Wellesley, MA 02482 or e-mail as a Word document or PDF to hr@wellesleyma.gov by June 9, 2019.  AA/EOE
