The Town of Wellesley Council on Aging (COA) currently has a part-time (19 hours/week) opening for a Transportation Coordinator.
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Senior Services, the Transportation Coordinator’s primary responsibilities are to oversee the COA’s bus service, which includes scheduling rides and developing daily bus routes using the Assisted Rides database, dispatching to the drivers, maintaining accurate records, and to oversee the Volunteer Drivers Program, which includes securing volunteers to meet requests, entering all data into the Assisted Rides database, and training volunteer drivers. The work requires strong organizational and communication skills, the ability to work with minimal supervision, and the exercise of independent judgment.
Requirements include a High School diploma or equivalent; the ability to read and write English; demonstrated computer skills; the ability to analyze data and create statistical reports; strong interpersonal, organizational, problem-solving, and oral and written communication skills, both face-to-face and over the telephone; a sincere interest in working with seniors and sensitivity to their needs; and the ability to maintain confidentiality. The Transportation Coordinator also provides general office support as needed. The desired regular work schedule is Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, totaling 19 hours – some flexibility may be required to meet department needs. The hourly rate of pay is $21.33 and the position is not benefits eligible.
