Part time opening for 12 hours per week at the Council on Aging Senior Center for the position of Social Service Worker. Duties include identifying and assessing older citizen’s needs, filing out various benefit forms such as for fuel assistance and SNAP benefits. Employee must attend training and receive a certificate for the state’s S.H.I.N.E program (health insurance counseling). The candidate is expected to conduct home visits provide information, referral and follow-up when indicated. The Social Service Worker will be responsible for overseeing the friendly visitor program. Duties also include facilitating and or organizing potential support groups and dementia friendly activities.  Maintaining written and electronic client records for the data base. It is preferred that the candidate have a social work or gerontology degree and or related experience. Candidates must have a valid driver’s license, be sensitive and courteous to the needs of elders, maintain confidentiality, have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the supervisor. Works with the Social Service Coordinator to organize and collaborate work efforts.  Reports to the Council on Aging Director.

Salary: Hourly $16 per hour
