The town of Northfield is seeking energetic, outgoing and self-motivated individual to be the Interim Director of Council on Aging (COA) and Senior Center while the COA explores the goals and direction of the Northfield Senior Center. The position is 37.5 hours of which some may be outside normal business hours to attend events, meetings, and conferences. This chosen candidate will be considered for the position if it becomes permanent. The Director manages the daily operations of the senior center, plans and implements social, recreational, health, education, travel programs and referrals geared to the interest, needs and financial means of the elderly.
The Director administers and maintains statistical and financial reports required by the town, state, and federal officials as well as preparing the annual budget and applying for grants. The Director, along with the COA board, has the opportunity to shape and energize the future of elder affairs of Northfield.
Required: Bachelors degree in human services, social work or a related field; three to five years prior work experience with the senior population; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Knowledge of the aging process and understanding of the physical and emotional impact of aging. Working knowledge of word-processing, spreadsheets, desktop publishing and budgeting.
Preferred: Knowledge of elder agencies at the local, state and federal levels. Knowledge of local, state and federal laws and regulations as pertaining to the provision of senior services. Experience in grant writing.
