Good morning,

This alert which is also posted on MCOA’s Coronavirus Vaccine webpage, is being sent to the membership to provide clarification on where COA’s may fit into the States vaccination plan. MCOA has received the following communication from EOEA:

The Phase 1, Group 5  prioritization of home based health care workers was specifically designed for people working inside the home with consumers/patients. Apologies for any confusion that might have been created. The vaccine distribution is a rolling process and priorities are set by the Massachusetts Vaccine Advisory Group. We are confident there will be additional supply coming into the Commonwealth in the coming weeks and months that will allow the Governor to activate additional phases and groups and that there will be an opportunity for all COA staff to receive a vaccine.

We believe that the majority of COA staff will fall into the Phase 2, Group 2 prioritization of other essential workers, along with teachers, public health workers, food pantry staff, workers in the passenger ground transportation industry and other in person roles. Please continue to check https://www.mass.gov/info-details/when-can-i-get-the-covid-19-vaccine for updated information on the vaccine rollout.

I will keep the COAs and MCOA updated as more information is made available about the vaccine.

Thank you for your partnership, patience and understanding.
