The Town of Shirley, MA is seeking a part time Social Services Coordinator to serve the community by working with established organizations and committees and assisting them and communicating with residents affected by issues such as food insecurities, fuel and utility assistance, neglect, child abuse, domestic violence, mental health and parental abuse. Cases will be handled by phone or in person. This role is responsible to assess residents needs, gathering information about their cases, provide information, contacting and making referrals to other agencies and services.

SOCIAL SERVICES COORDINATOR RESPONSIBILITIES: • Working with Council on Aging Director and Outreach Coordinator, Community Assistance Collaboration, Shirley Friendship Fund, School Nurse, Veterans’ Agent, Nashoba Nursing, Loaves & Fishes and Clergy. • Assisting clients in receiving services by telephone and in person. • Assisting clients with filling out paperwork and applications for programs. • Assisting clients and gathering relevant information. • Offering information and supporting clients and their families. • Contacting and making referrals to other agencies and services. • Maintaining accurate records and preparing reports. • Providing crisis intervention. • Establishing work schedule to meet with members of the Community. • Promoting programs on social media. • Administering Information and Referral database.

The position requires 15 hours flexible schedule per week. Some evening/weekend hours may be required.
