The Town of Wellesley is seeking a warm, innovative and inspiring leader to be their next Director of Senior Services. The Director will lead a team of talented and dedicated employees and volunteers to serve the older adult population of Wellesley in the new $10 million Tolles-Parson Center. The ideal candidate will be able to collaborate with the Council on Aging (COA) Board, volunteers, employees, and other key Town stakeholders in reaching the goals of the COA while promoting the overall health and wellness of Wellesley’s older adult population.

Reporting to the COA Board through the Chair, the Director of Senior Services’ primary responsibilities are to develop and evaluate the COA’s programs, activities, services, outreach initiatives and to recommend future programs and activities; to develop and implement policies and procedures established in conjunction with the COA Board and the Town Bylaws; to manage the COA’s operating and capital budgets; to research and manage grant funding; and to administer the ongoing funding, operations, programs and services of the Council. The incumbent’s work requires knowledge of federal, state and local programs and services designed to meet the needs of the Town’s older adults; frequent interaction with other agencies, Town/School employees, vendors, contractors, and the general public; attendance at evening and weekend meetings and events; and superior interpersonal and communication skills.

Minimum requirements: Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in gerontology, social work, human services administration, or a closely related field, 7 to 10 years of experience in a management role, or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to older adult citizens. Must possess extraordinary customer service and be able to interact effectively with the general public. Excellent oral and written communication skills; organizational and time management skills; strong attention to detail; and the ability to work collaboratively, meet deadlines, and prioritize workflow. Proficiency in municipal budget preparation and financial procedures. Ability to present complex statistics and information. Strong computer skills including, Microsoft Office Suite and municipal accounting software (MUNIS preferred). The ability to listen carefully and empathetically. Full salary range is $76,240 – $116,780. Anticipated hiring range is $86,859 – $106,161 DOQ.
