The City of Worcester seeks applicants for the position of Program Assistant (Principal Clerk) for The Worcester Senior Center within the Division of Health and Human Services. The Program Assistant will plan and implement a wide array of programs at the Worcester Senior Center. Under the direction of the Program Coordinator, this position will help to create signature events appealing to the varied interests of diverse seniors, as well as assisting with the successful operation of all programs.
This is a Grant-funded position funded through 6/30/24 with potential for continuation and expansion.
15 hours/week; temporary non-benefited
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge and experience with event planning and providing excellent customer service
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities
- Interest and sensitivity toward working with seniors and people of all backgrounds
- Strong time management skills with the ability to complete tasks timely and in a quality manner
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple competing and changing priorities
- Ability to work independently and establish/maintain excellent working relationships as part of a team
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Two (2) years of related experience.
- Experience working with diverse and/or older populations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient with computers, including Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with Social Media Channels
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Three (3) years of experience in events and/or activities planning and implementation
STARTING SALARY: $21.07 hourly, part-time 15 hours/week
