10:00 Joanne Moore and Angela Sinnott Duxbury COA – UCLA Memory Training

Joanne and Angela will discuss Memory Training: an innovative, educational course that teaches individuals techniques to improve their memory in a fun, interactive classroom environment. This 2-hour once per week course is designed to benefit individuals with age-related memory challenges over its four-weeks of lessons and beyond. This program has been offered for the past year in Duxbury with filled classes.

10:45 Transportation Best Practices – panel TBA

Join us for a panel discussion about volunteer driver programs, a vital part of the transportation network that helps older adults get to medical appointments, shopping, and social engagements. Sandra Robinson, Executive Director of the Needham Community Council, will discuss the Council’s volunteer transportation program, which supplements its drivers with Lyft (an on-demand ride-hailing service) to fill travel requests when no volunteer is available. The Billerica Council on Aging will present on their volunteer medical transportation program. And MassMobility, a statewide transportation initiative based out of the Executive Office of Health and Human Services, will provide information about designing and operating a volunteer driver program, as well as support tools and resources available to you.
